World Forestry Day 2017
“World Forestry Day” 2017 cum prepared speech competition on the theme “Our Environment, Our Responsibility” was organized by Earth Friendly Generation (EFG) NGO, for the students of Don Bosco School (DBS) Chiephobozou Town, Kohima on March 21 at EFG conference hall.
Asst. prof. Vizomenuo Merlyn, HoD, Tenyiedie Govt. Science College, Jotsoma graced the occasion as the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, she highlighted the history on how the “World Forestry Day” came into being.
She also mentioned how the government initiate ways to protect the forest using action word “if you cut one tree, you should plant ten trees”. She also exhorted the participants not only to speak out the theme “Our Environment, Our Responsibility” but to put it into practice and encouraged the students to take major part in protecting and preserving the environment.
A prepared speech competition was also held for the students where Arkaprobha Biswas of class 10 bagged the 1st prize, 2nd and 3rd were bagged by Kezhalhoubei of class 10 and Zapusienuo Üsou of class 10.
The winners were awarded with cash prize and certificates and participation certificates were given to all the participants.
The judges for the competition were Medochütuo Kiewhou, general secy, Nagaland Law Student’s Federation and Vizosü Kikhi from North East Institute of Social Science and Research (NEISSR) MSW College, Dimapur.
Earlier at the programme invocation prayer was led by Vilathie Sylvester, catechist, St Dominic Savio Church, Chiephobozou, exhortation by Medoneisa Marcus, chairman, EFG and vote of thanks was delivered by Keduolhoukho Chadi, director, EFG.
